Why this exists
Every time you land in a new country, you lose an hour Googling “what apps do I need for [country]” and piecing the answer together from blog posts that may be years out of date.
Pack My Apps is a structured directory of the apps people actually rely on in each country — the local ride-hailing, payment, messaging, transit and food apps, not just the global names. It covers 86 destinations and 93apps. Pick where you're going, get the list, tap the install link.
How the lists are put together
Plainly: this is a research project, not a travel diary. Nobody here has used every app in every country, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we do instead:
- Where the picks come from. Each company's own coverage pages, the App Store and Google Play listings, and local news reporting on launches, exits and rebrands. When an app pulls out of a country, it comes off that country's list; when one shuts down entirely, its page stays up as a notice pointing to what replaced it.
- Every download link is checked. Each App Store and Google Play link is resolved against the store and matched to the app's name and developer, so a button opens the app it says it does.
- The review date is real. The last full review of every destination and app page was in September 2026. That date only changes when the content has actually been re-checked — it isn't an automatic timestamp.
- What can still be wrong.Apps leave countries and change names faster than any directory can track, and some claims (“the most popular app in…”) are judgment calls. Tipping, etiquette and scam notes are general guidance, and phrase pronunciations are approximations for English speakers. Confirm anything your trip depends on.
How the site is paid for
Ads, served through Google AdSense — see the privacy policy for what that means for cookies. No app pays to be listed or ranked, and the download links are not affiliate links. There's no account to create and nothing to buy.
Suggest a destination or correction
If you live somewhere we cover and a pick is wrong or out of date, you know better than we do. Tell us — corrections from people on the ground are the most valuable thing this directory gets.
