- Accept hospitality warmly, as Georgians take great pride in welcoming guests ('a guest is a gift from God')
- At a supra (feast), follow the tamada (toastmaster) and don't drink out of turn before a toast
- Make eye contact and finish your wine when toasting; toasts are taken seriously
- Greet with a firm handshake; close friends may embrace
- Dress modestly in churches; women cover their heads and shoulders, and men remove hats
- Offer to share food, as eating together is central to Georgian social life

- Don't refuse food or drink outright at a feast; decline politely and in moderation rather than flatly
- Don't bring up the conflicts over Abkhazia and South Ossetia or relations with Russia casually
- Don't wear shorts or revealing clothing inside Orthodox churches and monasteries
- Don't begin drinking wine before the first toast is made

- Taxi drivers without meters quoting high fares; agree the price first or use ride-hailing apps like Bolt
- Bars or 'clubs' in Tbilisi where friendly strangers lure tourists then present a huge bill
- Overcharging at unmarked currency exchanges; compare rates at licensed offices
- Inflated prices for tourists at markets; bargaining is expected
